CMTECK USB Desktop Computer CM001 Microphone

 i tested this product extensively and i think it works well for its intended purpose. I don’t think it’s something that everyone would use but it would be fine for an audio conferencing situation such as regular group skype or other video conferences. I would like it to have a speaker built in, but it doesn’t so it’s just an omnidirectional microphone. In a business setting and perhaps in a group youtube recording setting it could be good in round table situations. It is clearly plastic and build quality is average. Sound quality is so much better than our laptop. My 9yo son uses this for online classes with ease. I really like the mute button being top and center. The price was excellent for what we needed it for. Highly recommend to cyber school parents.

Lately i’ve had to do a lot of video teleconferencing, and the microphone in my computer just didn’t work well at all because of the distance from the middle of the table, for instance, to the people sitting around the table. The cmteck microphone works beautifully. I didn’t think one that small would work that well, but it does. And it picks up, loud and clear, everyone sitting around the table. The $25+/- cost of this microphone is deceiving. It works better than other microphones that cost 4x that price. I can truthfully highly recommend it–and it has a 3 yr. Warranty if registered on line.

I purchased a blue snowball that stopped working after a couple of weeks. The sound quality wasn’t as good for telehealth sessions and groups and it was twice the price. This thing was much better and picks up voices in all corners of our group room. Definitely reccomend for phone conferences. Just wish they made a usb-c version so i didn’t need an adapter.

Update 12/15/2019i couldn’t stand the one weakness of this device. That led light is buried so deep in there it makes it almost worthless. I took apart and drilled a hole through it. I like it 100 times better now. Each of the rubber bottom pieces has a screw underneath it. A small phillips screwdriver and drill after that will take care of it all. I did get a report of bad echo at first, this was most likely due to my pc configured such that there was another mic running at the same time, perhaps internal or on a separate webcam. After turning those off all was well.
